So basically "who knows?" is your analysis? lmao I mean there's only so much you can glean from discards, especially as most of them aren't that special/notable. Mine was in a v similar vein tbh

Mine was in a v similar vein tbh Don't think that's true. Nick's was pretty sensible albeit I still disagreed Ollie's was pretty harsh Yours needed a bit more outward evaluation I felt outside of the "where this fits on the spectrum" analysis to get a solid understanding. And Molly's was not really productive I felt in terms of assertions.

There were differences that are important to note between all of your reactions.

Updated sus list based on who has posted:
Ollie - most sus so far. their discard was nai and some of their content seemed more mafia sighted than town sighted (if that makes any sense)
Molly - wasn't a huge fan of the initial post mostly because it felt very self-savey, and their 2nd felt like it didn't add much to the conversation (which i guess cant be helped, considering we are talking about the same stuff over and over)
Ashera - understandable post, i think my logic on roles would be similar, I liked the quick-to-the-point-ness of it and the lack of need to over explain themselves seems kinda town? Though, I am aware that they can play a similar sit-back strategy when mafia so I don't trust this read completely
Aegis - Fairly standard content so far, not too much to add other than I don't like the current push that you're going for.
Nick - Decent discard overview, I like it. Decent discard itself, I like it. Content? Kinda missing. I appreciated the input on the d1 no vote though, saved our skin there.
Daisy - Surprisingly, this is my current best read. They had a slightly different perspective on some of the discards that I thought added to the discussion, and something they said earlier made me feel a bit better about their discard. The wagon theyre currently pushing with me gives me some pause, as Demesne King hasnt posted yet it doesn't feel like a very constructive wagon to help push. I was about to jump onto the Olterior wagon but they switched before me :/ made me think for a while
Maybe we can make this reform and get some more Ol content? They would probably be my d1 exile right now Vote: Olterior

I am my own man! If I want to vote Daisy for the analysis of all of the discards and want to reject the incredibly limited readable info in terms of content in terms of changing that push, I SHALL (for Valhalla)

I mean, I did say in my first post that I don't really have that much to add in terms of the discards. As for explaining my thing I didn't intend for it to feel self-savey as much as just explaining my thought process behind discarding. I suppose if I have to be more opinionated in terms of what I think looking STRICTLY at discards (I'd bold strictly but I don't know text commands or where to find them)
-Elements, Esh and Nick G are people I'm more leaning towards good because roles that make Town's life harder -Daisy, Silver and Demesne King are people I'm a bit weary about due to dismissing powerful roles (Again, STRICTLY speaking in terms of just discards. Factoring posts, I'm not weary of Silver) -Ashera, Aegis, Luke and Olterior: Neutral
My analysis was very neutral-esque mostly because again, first game I've been playing, and in my mind with such a massive role list, I don't really know if discards are really that much of a tell? Obviously they're slightly telling, I just wouldn't want to be in a position of "Let's all vote X player out cuz they discared a really good town role" and then it turns out that player just had a different really good town role they just like more.

Thanks for correcting, and dw you and anyone else don't need to change a thing. For the first 2 days at least, most of what I will be posting will be observations until I explicitly say something is sus

If you click the big "reply" button at the bottom, or the "quote" button on someones post, you should be taken to a page where the controls function very much like a normal doc. Id really like to hear what you have to say about the way people are analysing things, or how other people are talking etc (rather than just analysing discards themselves), but if it hasn't been long enough for you yet I totally understand. It took me a while to get used to forum games too haha. Interested to hear what differentiates my discarded role from asheras discarded role to you, as I view them as pretty similar tbh.

There we go! Thanks Silver!
I'll answer the second thing first and an overall analysis of how peeps talk later!
My reasoning for grouping the One-Shot Day Vig (OSDV) discard with weary compared to the bodyguard with neutral, is mostly based on the way the roles function? I hope that's the right wording. Basically, with Ashera's bodyguard dismissal, while bodyguard CAN be a powerful role by killing an evil role, it does kind of require the user to die in order to properly function, taking them out of the game as well. With OSDV, you still can kill an evil role, but there's less downside since you don't die yourself? Plus doing the action itself also does reveal your role more or less to the rest of the town. (More or less cuz I did just check and there IS a mafia version).
Still, factoring in what you said I do completely understand the dismissal because it DOES basically turn into a VT and the threat of mucking it up is ever looming.
Tying into that, Molly's analysis of how people talk and what they say and junk! (MAOHPTAWTSAJ for short)
Yeah it's kinda hard for me to catch out anything that really catches my eye so far! Everything people wrote seems completely fine to me, nothing really screams out suspicious or even anything I can really add to? Like, the thing that stood out to me the most was Silver putting Aegis in questionable for the Private Investigator discard but even then, I think that's basically been covered already.
Sorry I couldn't be of more use or interest here but I hope there's at least something worthwhile in what I wrote!

While OSDV can kill mafia, bodygaurd will. That evens it out for me :3 But I suppose I understand the logic

Hey everyone. This is my first game here. I'd appreciate any tips on formatting/quoting etc. Thoughts so far: warwick-mafia.freeforums.net/post/24489 is the one post I don't understand. What direction of questioning could be harmful, and why vote Demesne King when Olterior asked a harmful question? Also, of the discards the one that stands out is the Jack. It's not just cool, it's a pretty perfect role, so unless Daisy really traded down to VT for some reason as she suggested (or took an OP town role that I don't know), she isn't town. I have 2 questions for everyone. 1) Do people usually analyse discards for alignment? 2) Do people prefer many short posts or few massive posts? 3) Do we claim our roles when about to die or could we do it before, to see how sus the claims are?

Answering all 2 of your questions: 1) Yes, but do not take it too much to heart. It gives an indication of likelihood given their habits. 2) Whichever will best show your engagement and reasoning, though it doesn't need to be one or the other 3) Whenever you want. Not like we are going to be able to stop you. And whilst I am commenting, it could be harmful if perhaps it gives indication that the person drew 2 really good town cards (for scum to work out) and so should be killed.

The reason I voted King in that post is because, the logic Olterior used to focus on King was correct, i just didnt like the direction it was going. (as aegis explained) Ollie is very sus, and the post was meant to be a call out, but I like to focus the conversation on discards to begin with The 4 answers you requested: 1) Discards are usually a good conversation starter. For me I like to begin the conversation there, but get off them as fast as I can to focus on game content. But its different for everyone 2) Again, personal preference. Do whatever feels comfortable/natural 3) I would suggest claiming if youre about to be voted off, as you cant talk after youre out and its good for town to have a full picture of what theyre voting for before the end of the day phase. But its not a rule and if you dont want to then you dont have to

Yeah I added a 3rd question. I was thinking that non-town people might not fakeclaim anything too risky (i.e. roles that do night actions which affect other players), so the 'safer' claims might be non-town.

Good thinking most normal mafia logic applies, but as you have more time to think about things expect the mafia to come up with fairly convincing alibis too
