The year is 2953. The Imperium of Sol has collapsed under its own bloated weight. Noble families and megacorporations spent centuries engaged in a cold war, scrabbling for anything that might offer an economic advantage over their rivals. Just over 30 years ago, that war turned hot when the Andromeda Entertainment Company detonated a nuclear device inside The Emperor’s Citadel, killing most of the Imperial family. Everything descended into chaos; factories that once produced luxury spacecraft and household appliances began to churn out obscene weapons of war. Almost every known Waygate was destroyed - some by foreign invaders looking to cripple their enemies, some by their own planetary governments hoping to prevent greater attacks. Some planets were ground to dust to keep the production lines running, while others simply starved to death, no longer able to access the food imports they had historically relied upon.
Now the flame of war has burned itself out, and survivors look to the wreckage of civilization, seeking the means to rebuild their lives. In the Antares System, a small group of settlers has managed to crack the security codes of the ancient and abandoned MercuryCorp Casino and Star Mall. Once a vibrant commercial hub, the star mall’s automated systems have managed to maintain its security and its vast stores of products from before the fall of the Imperium. This space station and the treasures within offer these desperate survivors hope of building something new.
But a sinister new power is feasting on the corpse of the Imperium. The Syndicate is a network of crime families and corrupt industrialists that are determined to become the next major galactic power. Agents of the Syndicate have infiltrated these fledgling colonists aboard the MercuryCorp Star Mall, and they will stop at nothing to seize this strategic advantage, for the glory of their organization…
With unknown enemies in the shadows, and a deranged machine still distributing the mad creations of a corrupt world order, it’s time to-

Pick Your Power...In SPAAAACE!
The Setup:
Pick Your Power is a setup that's a little different than you might be used to. It's a closed setup but the focus is not on your role - it's all about the items you can buy with your hard earned money. Every day phase and every night phase there will be an array of items up for grabs, and you'll be able to freely bid on them. Bid the most money by the end of the phase and you'll acquire the item and spend the money. These items do a wide range of things, usually emulating more conventional power roles. The twist is that you won't know exactly what an item does before you bid on it - only what Brolly and I have decided to name it.
Everyone does have their own role, but these are designed to interact more with the mechanics of the setup than to do things like cop check or heal people. And, of course, there's an evil team who will be killing in the night and bidding on the same pool of items as the rest of y'all.

The Rules:
1) The Mods' words are final.
2) No communication about this game outside of the game threads set up by the mods may take place.
3) Play to your win-con.
4) Do NOT directly quote communications with the mods or with other players in private threads. Paraphrasing is acceptable. Additionally do not discuss the formatting of such communications, such as parts being underlined, coloured or bold.
5) Do not edit or delete any posts. That is mod business, and we'll be, like, super upset if you do that, it's not cool.
6) Do not use encryption or codes unless you have run it past one of us and we have okayed it.
7) No outside influences, trust tells, posting images to show you have a busy irl schedule etc. Especially not trust tells. Brolly wants everyone to know that they're still not salty about not being allowed to make trust tells. IT WASN'T A TRUST TELL!!! - Brolly
8) If you think something breaks a rule then ask before doing it.
9) We can change any and all rules if we think we need to to make the game run better.
10) We're all friends, don't be a dick.

There are also specific rules about how the setup works eg. bidding, money, items. These will be posted in full at the start of the game thread.
The game will start when we feel we're not gonna get any more players signing up, probably a day or two after I post this.
To sign up just post something in this thread that at least vaguely hints at you wanting to play. Also, Brolly and I will need some non-forum way to contact you just in case. This will mostly be done to gently prod you if you're not being active enough in the game.
